A Polish woman claiming to be Madeleine McCann has been arrested as she arrived in the UK, it’s been claimed.
Julia Wandelt, 23, has been arrested on suspicion of stalking and harassing Madeleine’s parents as she touched down at Bristol Airport this afternoon, her representative said.
Having flown from Wroclaw in Poland, she was due to meet with a friend who lives in Cardiff when she was arrested, MailOnline reports.
It’s thought the friend was also arrested.
Her representative, Surjit Singh Clair, told MailOnline: ‘I’m trying to find out what’s happened but it appears Julia has been arrested at Bristol Airport this evening just after she got off the plane.
‘The police have reportedly arrested her on an allegation of stalking and harassing the McCanns.’
Despite previously publishing DNA test results which concluded she is 100% Polish and therefore cannot be missing Madeleine McCann, Julia has this week shared ‘new’ DNA results which apparently show she is related to Gerry McCann.
She appeared on US talk show Dr Phil in 2023 to discuss the possibility she could be missing Maddie – though last year she apologised to Kate and Gerry and said she ‘regretted’ the entire ordeal after receiving death threats.
She claims a ‘world expert’ has compared her DNA to the crime scene following Madeleine’s disappearance, and that her source, who she hasn’t named, believes the genetic evidence ‘strongly supports that Gerry McCann could be Julia Wandelt’s biological father’.
The source reportedly said her DNA is a ‘perfect match’ to samples taken from the scene of Madeleine’s disappearance.
The source claimed to have analysed ‘hair obtained from the floor of the crime scene in Portugal’ and ‘saliva obtained from the bed quilt at the scene’, resulting in a 69.23% match which ‘suggests a biological connection between the two individuals’.
Earlier this week, Julia shared an audio clip on her Instagram account in which she claims to have tried to speak with Gerry McCann on the phone.
The man hung up on her a few seconds in to the call, saying she must have the wrong number.
